Directed at the post by Felblood: Also, Neko's own webcomic is pretty generic (if you ask me). My webcomic is pretty generic. Both of them have a couple of characters in and while I don't think I've copied or re-used any jokes in my own comic, Neko is putting pictures to conversations I've seen all over the Internet before. It's like an extension of his rants. I've seen this stuff in other places, just a different spin. Does that mean it should be ripped apart? I don't think so. It's not the best and it's nothing new, but it's not hurting anyone. Or, maybe we should tell Neko to give up and come back when he can write 100% original strips and draw with his own pure style? I must strongly disagree with this. And here is why. A person's own work has nothing to do with their ability to evaluate. You don't have to have a multi-billion sci-fi franchise to be able to say why Episode 1: Phantom Menace works or not. To do that, You only have to be able to say why Episode 1: Phantom Menace works or not.In the end of the day, it's the arguments in the article that counts. If you disagree, by all means, rebut the points in the article. HOWEVER, Using a person's work elsewhere to attack his/her writing borders on a personal attack, I really would not recommend anyone doing this if they wanted to maintain any semblance of credibility.

I have to echo Phalanx on this.
My case can of course be used as an example. Just because I draw a sprite comic doesn't mean I can't tell good art from bad. Just because my story as it is has multiple problems with it including pacing and explanation doesn't mean I can't tell when a plot is well written.
If the requirement for judging is based on current ability (as you are directly implying by saying someone's opinion is not as valid due to your opinion of their work) then no one would listen to a word I said, or believe any criticism that comes out of my mouth.
You tried to debate a statement of support to Neko by saying his comic is generic. An attempt at a low blow even without looking as deep as Phalanx did.

Didn't realise you were still going here. Phalanx left the same comment at my blog, so here's my reply.
"Oh, hey, I'm not attacking the guy. Seriously -- he's okay. In that thread I took my own work into account, too.
I'm also not really bothered about being credible. Unlike you I'm not really running a blog that details webcomics and webcomic finds. This is my blog, too. So it's all opinion.
And I know that the administration of Keenspace are nowt to do with it. If they were then it would be bigger and a damn sight better. I just think it's ironic that this guy who has a comic ON Keenspace about those who are no doubt on the same service. That's all. So no fact being bent or misinterpreted on that account.
Thanks for replying though. I think I said previously I'm not out for a fight, just some kind of intellectual stimulation. And if I "lose" any arguments or whatever, hey, I'm only going to learn from the experience.
Ta."

I try not to think too much, so the thought of the angel-half hitting the ground in a trail of tears made me giggle. Lots.

I don't see how anyone could have expected this NOT to be taken at face value. This is a fairly new newsletter, and a new column as of last month. It's unrealistic to expect people to second-guess you and get the deeper meaning when they don't know who the hell you are in the first place.

I guess the a "sarcasm required" sign REALLY is needed, then.

The seriousness with which the article was read astounds me. In a bad way. I read it and laughed the whole way through. There were some things with which I agreed, and others with which I did not. Though I must say, I hope another article like it is put up for the next edition, just for the sheer enjoyment.
